“The Knower” - by Late Sri M.P.B. Nair

My father-in-law Late Sri M.P.B. Nair’s poems.

“The Knower”

In thought the idea of bondage arise,
In thought is born the desire to be free.
Seers who attained the highest proclaim
To guide earnest souls who seek lasting peace!

You were never born, and you will never die,
You were never bound but are ever free
Neither a doer, nor an enjoyer of joy,
You remain as Witness, the Knower of all!

The Knower alone can witness the doing,
The Knower alone is witness of the past,
The Knower alone can speak of a thought,
That Knower you are, as Consciousness Pure.

Stand firm as the Knower, and rise above mind,
Or banish all thought in “Consciousness am I”
Neither a doer, nor an enjoyer be –
It’s the mind that craves to do and enjoy.

That Changeless Principle, the Ultimate Truth,
The Ground on which all ideas arise,
The goal that you seek by action and thought,

Isn’t far away, if thus you recognize!

Wonderful mystical poem. I was directed to the author by Philip Renard. Thank you, Alberto Martin.
