"Living like a Bee or a Locust?"

"Living like a Bee or a Locust?"

(27-12-2012)

Locusts, locusts-
A plaque of them!
Whatever green
They come to meet,
Consume in groups
Cause havoc to all.
Locusts swarm
Organised in team
Devastating crops,
Resulting in famine
Indeed misery to all!

Choice is ours,
Whether to live -
Like a bee, or lead -
A life of locust!

" Bees Buzzing!"

"Bees Buzzing!"

(27-12-2012)

Bees - Bees Buzzing!
Gathering honey
From flowers.
All these flowers
Are so generous!

Without spoiling –
Beauty of flowers,
Bees serving for hours,
In free pollinating!

Just consuming
For meager needs,
Not at all gathering
For selfish needs.

The hive-store’s open
Day-n-night for all.
They store honey
Not for any money.
Donating with love
All that they have!

At times we need a sting!
To remind us - “no stealing,-
It’s needs indeed-
Many days of hard-work!”

Storing for future
Is of no use, for sure!
God takes away one day
To distribute to all!

His Compassion!

"His Compassion!"

(20th Sept. 2011)

In my mother’s womb
I laid curled up, like a nut;
Unable to stretch my limbs
Or hold my so huge head.

When out came one day
Amidst this world of plurality
An unknown world till day
Managed stretching-out-n-cry!

Took me several months
Even half an year more,
To manage holding my head
Very well on this neck.

My legs needed enough strength
To hold my body straight
And further took half an year-
Or so, to stand on my own feet!
To walk on my own and learn
Took another few months;
And took several years to earn
To stand on my own legs.

Forgetting with Whose Grace
I am able to breathe-n-move,
Work-n-serve!!
Who all contributed,
For my own growth,
Throughout these years.

Now I hold my head so high
Ungrateful and proud
Unwilling to bow down
Lord, at Your Lotus Feet
Nor ever Recalling Thy Grace!
Yet You never showed disgrace
You never neglected me
Always so compassionate
Throughout my life.

Oh Lord, I was all curled up-
Helpless; in mother’s womb as a nut;
Alas! Even now am I behaving
As if,  nothing better than a nut!!

"We, Seagulls and You Humans!"

"We, Sea-gulls and You Humans!"
(30th Jan. 2011)

God Bestowed Webs for us, to swim all along the water,
You humans need man-made boats to go on water!
God Bestowed Wings for us, to soar high in the sky
You humans need man-made flying-machines to fly!
God Bestowed Legs for us, to take a stroll,
You humans need man-made four wheels to roll!

We get-up early, search for food
Whatever little we get, we eat.
You humans are never content
Going on searching, clothes, things ‘n’ lots of food,
Hunting doctors’ aide, to de-stress ‘n’ sleep,
And to digest over-load of cooked food, so heap!
We need no pills or gym; or housing loans or wealth,
For exercise we fly or swim; ‘n’ fast for health,
We are little birds of nature, ever content,
We can always perch on trees, ‘n’ fall asleep.

The Seagulls at Abra!

"The Seagulls at Abra!"

(30th Jan. 2011)

Walking along the Creek-side
Watching flying sea-birds-
Being one with the white birds
Kept soaring above! O my mind!

Sea-gulls, so pure and white
Ear-tops like-black a dot,
Looks like innocent dolls
Enjoying dance on the waves.

With pink so short, legs they swam,
Clear water showed their dancing webs,
At times dipped head down, now ‘n’ then,
Took a moment’s pause, then alert again.

Flying above, stretching their legs,
Straight they kept legs underneath their tail.
Below their wings, seems so cloud-like grey
Though white as snow, their cute  light body.
Lesser the ego, so, high up they could flew
To soaring heights, that man never knew!

WE ARE TOOLS IN THE HANDS DIVINE.

WE ARE TOOLS IN THE HANDS DIVINE.

(2005)

The pen in hand
With which I write,
Is helpless, bound,
To do its work.
For, I made it my tool
To scribble this down!

The words those flow
Through this pen, of course,
Not mine, at all,
And I can't help
But, to pen this down,
For it is HE
Who Makes me write.

This pen might have
Been still, where it laid,
Until a writer's hand
Came to its aid!
This pen is bound
To do its work,
The Writer's Idea
Not its own!

We too, are tools,
In the Hands Divine;
HE makes us do,
All our work,
Whether day or night
With all our might!
Who helps us think?
Who give us health?
Who helps us work?
Who guides us right?
Or else, we lay
Unable to move today
Like any pen
Untouched by men!

Under His Feet

"Under His Feet"

(4th Feb.2012)

How lucky am I
To come under His feet!

He stamps on me
He jumps on me
He pours water on me
He keeps me in kiln!

He planned to make
me a stove so that
I be in a kitchen;

On a second thought,
He changed his idea later,
And made me a mud-pot,
so that now I can be ever
Of service to all
Quenching the thirst
How lucky am I
To be under His Feet!

He knows best
Where I must;
He keep us where
We deserve most!
To serve Him means,
Serving all.

Tears

"Tears"

(19th Nov.2011)

Tears are precious,
Not to be wasted.
Best cleansing agent
God's gift, unique!

If used in Devotion,
Purifies the heart
No detergent can ever
Do this wonder!

Your mind is a garden

"Your mind is a garden"

(11th Dec. 2012)

Your mind is a garden
with thought-seeds
unborn,
flower-bearing plants
as well as weeds;
watch yourself, upon-
this garden within,
think of ways
of improving this garden;
pluck out the weeds
from time to time
instead, plant-
fruit-bearing-shady trees
ready to lend shade
and fruit for travelers,
letting homes for birds
and animals too...

"Why am I so..?" (a sloka from Srimad Bhagavatam)

"Why am I so..?"

(5th July 2013)

We should analyse ourselves, as to what we really like to read, which type of books, either puranas or novels, etc. We should also think about what type of food, water, etc., we really wish to take, whether spicy food, non-veg., hot drinks, tea, or water, etc.
This gives us an idea as to what type of a person predominantly we are satvik, rajasik or tamasik in nature. Accordingly we can make changes so that our satvik nature can be increased...

There is a sloka in Srimad Bhagavatam:

Aagamo-apah prajah desah kalah karmah cha janma cha
Dhyanam mantro-atha samskaaro dasah-ete guna-hetave...
(Srimad Bhagavatam Skandam 11/chapter 13/sloka 4).

Satvaguna-the vardhippikkunna 10 sadhanangal:-
1. Agamah - or Vedam or Sastram - What you like to read?
2. Apah - vellam or jalam - (introspect: what you wish to drink? - hot drinks, tea, cool drinks or water?)
3.Prajah - janangal - the people you like to have company? (introspect)
4. Desah - sthalam - place you like to live? (introspect: near a temple, near a cinema theatre or slaughter-house?)
5. Kalah - time - the time to select for getting up, doing japa, etc. (introspect)
6. Karmah - pravruthi - the work you like to do? Swadharma is always satwik karma. (introspect - satvik, rajasik or tamasic?)
7.Janmah - jananam - to whom you are born? have you given a good janma to your children?
8. Dhyanah - Satvik murti ?
9. Mantrah - Satvik mantra?
10. Samskaarah - upanayana-adi; what culture you inherited from ancestors and teachers?

Am I Happy..?

"Am I Happy..?"

(18th Nov.2011)

I asked myself:-
“Am I happy?”
“Sometimes happy,
Sometimes not!”

“When not happy?
Don’t know why!
Why not happy?
Don’t know why!”

Thought of People,
Thought of things,
Thought of happenings-
That goes around.

Sorted Friends,
Sorted rest,
Sorted the best
Marked the rest.

Analysed People,
Analysed days,
Analysed words-
Lingering in mind.

Tried some Outing,
Tried some shopping,
Tried out dining-
And too dancing.
Tried new friends,
Tried new jobs,
Tried new dwelling-
And new Life-style.

Begged for Grace,
Begged for Wealth,
Begged for Love,
And for Peace.

Nothing mattered,
As I worked out.
Sometimes happy,
Sometimes not.
Don’t know when!
Don’t know why!
Why not happy!
When not happy!

Then came God
In my dream-cup.
Showed me LIGHT,
That WOKE ME up!

“Are you happy?
Or are you not?
You are Blessed-
With Best of Best!”
So said God; added-
“And stay Blessed!”

I looked IN-me
For first-a-time!
Wow!! Just wondered-
What IN-there!
Lots of Treasure,
Out of Measure!

How come dear,
I see them not
All these days!
My search was On
On-n-on-n-on
Yet, I found them not!

Now, I asked myself:
“Am I happy?
Or am I not?
Oh sure now,
Bliss! Bliss, just-
Flow-n-overflow!
I’m Happy, Hap-
Happiest of All!!
I found You IN!
‘You’ -  in ME
We are One
Now  ‘I am’ gone!”
